Umang Red Cross Institute of Special Education, situated in Faridkot, Punjab, India is a dedicated institution for training professional in the area of special education. Umang Red Cross Institute of Special Education claims to possess several working facilities in order to foster the learning process of the students. Library is well equipped with nearly about thousand two reference books and twenty five journals form reputed institutes within India and abroad. Besides meeting the informational and educational needs of the institute’s students, this resource centre also provides information facilities to the students and staff from schools for the mentally retarded, visually handicapped, and hearing impaired. it also has well equipped Psychological Laboratory with a qualified psychologist attached to it. In this lab, different intelligence tests and assessment scales for mentally retarded children are provided to enable students practically engage in their area of study. Umang Red Cross Institute of Special Education has only one course of study, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) . This full time course takes two years and prepares students for this career in special education. Admission to Umang Red Cross Institute of Special Education is done by offering an entrance examination to student with merit as the key to admission. The candidate will be selected on the merit acquired in qualifying examination, entrance examination or any other method as prescribed by the State Government/UT administration and this University. This in effect help the institute to admit students that genuinely has aptitude and a passion that would make them work hard when studying special education.
