Punjabi university Patiala has Mechanical Engineering Department which was set up in the year 2003 to make a contingent effort in providing quality education in Mechanical Engineering. This co-educational department was established in Patiala, Punjab which offers many undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in mechanical engineering. The department is staffed by well qualified and highly qualified 39 faculty members to provide quality education and to guide the students. Formally approved by AICTE, the standard of education being set high, the department offers five wide-ranging courses, falling under four degree categories as according to the different specialisation in mechanical engineering. Any learner at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Punjabi university, has access to various facilities that are useful in learning. The department also has a library which is well equipped to meet the reading needs of our students as well as other references books and other learning materials. Present day science laboratories which include modern equipment and instruments enable learners to perform practical sessions. This shows that the department has top notch IT system to make to ensure that the students conduct their work on the internet and have the latest version of the software. For the physically challenged persons, the University provides hostel facilities for both male and female students. These modern structures are seven storied apartments with facilities like lift, water through Reverse Osmosis, and round the clock security. The Department of Mechanical Engineering provides a variety of courses to address the growing concern of students and job expectations. Five courses are offered by the department which incorporates full time, part time and integrated courses.
