Sainik Institute of Management and Technology (SIMT) an affiliated college set up in 2015 is located at Roopnagar, Punjab. This fairly young institution has consequently advanced its status in the provision of information technology education. Located at Old Bus Stand, SIMT provides a niche and a well-defined Package of IT-oriented courses to meet the increasing Industry requirements. At the moment, the enrolments for the institute are 97 students in total with five efficient and hardworking teachers. The SIMT offers 4 courses with three degrees on Information Technology and Computer Applications. Campus of Sainik Institute of Management and Technology has been arranged in a pleasant manner so that the students can pursue their education in the right environment. The Library, that is the central nervous system of the institute has around 350 books mostly the technical professional and reference books with the special emphasis on the books related to Computer Science and IT. This is play an important role in the provision of text books other reading materials and literature, newspapers for students and staff. The institute also has a Computer Design Lab with all graphic designing and drafting software and systems installed in fully loaded computational workstations with dedicated direct broadband internet services through lease line. This lab together with the library and qualified faculty is the basis of IT education in SIMT. Applied instruction is given a high priority at SIMT. This includes a badminton court, a football ground, volleyball court and open ground for other physical workouts and outdoor sports at the 28 acres of land the institute has for it. Apart from that, such facilities also help to maintain the students’ physical health and can also help develop team work and leadership among students. Furthermore, this institute conducts diverse inter college competitions which help students to exhibit their potentialities and come across wider sectional academia. Sainik Institute of Management and Technology for its part provides four full time courses ; with a focus on Information Technology and Computer Applications. There are four programmes in offer are B.Sc Information Technology (3 years), B.Sc Information Technology Lateral Entry (2 years), M.Sc Information Technology (2 years) and PGDCA (1 year). Each of these courses currently has an approved quota of 30 students hence, the total number of students for all these programmes is 120. As a result of this focused approach, SIMT is in a position to sustain reduced course enrolments and adequate student-teacher ratios, which in the end helps produce quality education for the learners.
