Government Ayurveda College in Ernakulam was started year 1914 and this college is one the leading institutions in Ayurveda education and research field. The college also has a playground and gymnasium and regular sporting facilities to coincide with the general promotion of health among the students. An open-access modern IT facility fosters use of contemporary learning models; a hall also accommodates different events seminars. The institution offers 12 full course programmes of which the following are as follows: Undergraduate, post graduate, diploma. The flagship programme is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery ( BAMS ); this course has an approved admission capacity of 63 students. At postgraduate level, there are different faculties as ms.Salyatantra, MD kayachikitsa , MD panchakarma, etc, in which there is 4-5 student intake capacity. The college also has its diploma courses offered in more specialized ones such as Manasik Swasthya Vigyan and Netra Rog Vigyan. For undergraduate courses such as BAMS, the admission is based on the Common Entrance Test being administered by the Commissioner for Common Entrance Examinations, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
