The College of Teacher Education, Kanjirapally, is a constituent college which started in the year 1992 aims to build the future of education. Sree Gopaladas Deemed University College is a co-educational university college situated at Kottayam, Kerala and affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University. The college recognises by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and it is focused in delivering teacher education. Till date, ITM SUN has its own 0.5 acre campus and it is total strength of enrolment for 100 students and faculty of 9 member only. The college presently has only one programme of study which is the degree programme: Bachelor of Education ( B.ED ) which is in line with the colleges specialised task of producing teachers. The College of Teacher Education, Kanjirapally has various facilities used in teaching and training of the students. Among them the library deserves attention as having 6,240 books for different subjects, encyclopedia and dictionaries. It is also a subscriber to journal, periodicals, weeklies and newspaper, while back volumes of educational journals are well archived. The library has internet facilities enabled and a printer, enabling students use modern means in their research. The college’s embraced technology and is exhibited in the computer laboratory where the B.Ed students undergo their computer education with internet. Besides, the institution has departmental facilities that are it ensures that its students practice more and does most of their experimenting and practices. The college also arranges sports for the students and has a large hall for conducting other paras and seminars preparing a pleasant educational atmosphere. Languages offered by the College of Teacher Education, Kanjirapally, are English and Malayalam but, unlike other colleges, it offers only B.Ed. This course is a two-year, full time and has an approved capacity of 50 students per year to ensure that all students can be well attended too and well taught. It has been developed to ensure that the candidate for teaching profession acquire relevant skills as well as knowledge in theoretical and practical aspects of the current education practice. The admission procedure existing at the College of Teacher Education, Kanjirapally is the process of merit and depicts the priority of the College in providing education. Selection to the course is made depending on the score in the qualifying test and/or entrance test. The college also takes into consideration any other method of selection as may be identified by the state policy, the Union Territory in-charge and the university.
