Christian College, Kattakada, founded in 1965, is a premier institution of higher education in Thiruvananthapuram. This affiliated college is situated in a large 23-acre campus and has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has a total student enrolment of 1368 and a faculty of 49 the college provides 14 courses in five different degree courses. The institute has a broad course portfolio comprising of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate in different fields cut across Arts, Commerce, and Science streams. Christian College is well built with every facility within and outside class that is believed to have a bearing on the learning process. The library is the central library of the university encompassing about 26000 books and the university adds about 350 new books every year. Besides, students can use an efficiently equipped main Computer Lab stocked with brand new, fast, broadband connections, computers in some departments. To improve more of the infrastructures that the college has for the sporting activities, there is a 200 meters of a track, a football pitch, centres for basketball, among others. The college auditorium have a sitting capacity of 1,800 people and is used for all the cultural and academic activities in the college. Besides, there is a well-equipped gym, a cafeteria, discipline wise separate labs, Biotechnology Laboratory with tissue culture unit. Christian College has a vast population and offers a students a vast range of faculty from which then can choose according to their needs and dreams. The institute offers fourteen courses , five of which are at undergraduate level, four are postgraduate and five are doctoral. The majority of these are full-time courses offered in campus styles of learning. The college provides Bachelors’ degree in Arts, Science and Commerce in various disciplines including Economics , History, Statistics , Physics, Mathematics , Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Commerce. At this level, students have an opportunity to undertake Master of Science in Physics, Botany , and Chemistry. For inclined towards research, the college offers Doctor of Philosophy in the fields of Botany and Chemistry .
