Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Sambalpur was founded in August 1956 by the Odisha Government. The University is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Sambalpur was formerly known as University College of Engineering which was placed under the Sambalpur University in 1967 and under BPUT in 2002. The university has ranked in 51–100 rank band under State Public Universities by NIRF ranking 2025.
