Vinayaga Education College, as it is named, started in 2008 and is an affiliated college situated at Keelapaluvur in Tamil Nadu. Located on a small piece of ground of 2.99 acres, this institution trains teachers at various levels of education. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has accorded recognition to the college, which means the quality of their education. Taking 300 students per year and 16 faculties, Vinayaga Education College gives an intimate atmosphere for the students who want to become teachers. The institute offers 3 full-time degree programmes: undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, including Bachelors in Education (B. Ed) and Masters in Education (M. Ed), and D.El.Ed. Along with formal teaching, physical sensation comes in the way of three practical science laboratories for physics, chemistry and zoology, respectively. Vinayaga Education College's academic structure comprises 3 main courses : there is B.Ed programme offering 100 seats and a Master in Education (M.Ed) , and D.El.Ed is offering 50 seats. Both are university-based, daytime, professional and academic undergraduate courses taking two calendar years of study and producing holders of a Bachelor of Education degree. The B.Ed programme provides a basic platform for the prospective teachers, and the M.Ed course provides an opportunity for those who wish to get advanced knowledge and to be involved in research areas of education. The college provides a total capacity of one hundred and fifty students for both programmes; thus, it is afforded to give quality attention to each student in offering the teacher training programmes. The admission policy of Vinayaga Education College is merit-based and consonant with the policies of state government, university, and UT administration. For the B.Ed programme, the admission shall be made on the merit of the marks secured in the qualifying examination as well as the entrance test, if any. Likewise, at the master's level, the M.Ed programme is merit-based; the score secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination, entrance test or any other criteria in accordance with the directions issued from time to time is taken into consideration.
