University College of Science, Tumakuru was founded in the year 1940 cloves it is one of the constituent college of the university located in tukukuru, Karnataka state. This is a mixed institute comprised of a plot of 3.39 acres of land for the purpose of offering standard education in different scientific fields. NCA accredited, it trains undergraduate and postgraduate students in a variety of programmes of study. It has a current faculty of 64 members, teaching students across various fields like physical sciences, Life sciences Computer applications, Environment science. The college currently teaches 7 courses in four degree programme and it shows its commitment to academic excellence by offering students all the opportunities to develop their scientific created. The University College of Science, Tumakuru has developed a plethora of facilities meant to aid the learning of their students. The college library developed concurrently with the establishment of the institution in the same year 1940, has over 50255 books, references and digital information resources. Also offers for the scholars access to more than 6000 e-journals and 31,35,000 e-books through the N-LIST programme . With reference to sports and fitness enthusiaists the college provides well-facilitated playfields for ground games like cricket, football, basketball and volley ball besides well-equipped health club. It also has a large hall with a seating capacity of 500 students mostly used for seminars, workshops and other cultural activities. The college canteen serves healthy food and drinks to students at very reasonable prices and all the foods that are sold are foods that are well prepared hygiically. The institution has a policy of protecting the welfare of its students with having boy’s hostel and girl’s hostel for the students to live comfortably as they study. The University College of Science, Tumakuru, has designed its programme providing sufficient courses necessary for scientific field. According to the given approach the institute offers 7 full time programmes at both the undergraduate and post graduate levels. At the Under Graduate level, the College offers B.Sc. in Physical Science , B.Sc in Life Science, B.Voc in Hardware Technology & Networking and BCA. For the post graduate programmes the college provides opportunities in M.Sc. in Physics, M.Sc. in Environmental Science, and M.Sc. in Chemistry. A major element of admission is the Academic Point System which gives any candidate the right to pursue their preferred courses at the University College of Science, Tumakuru. Eligibility of the student and the availability of the seat together determines the admission process or joining of student for the undergraduate courses such as B.Sc. Physical sciences B.Sc. Life sciences in Rajeev institute based on the Merit of the students and subject to the approval from Tumkur University in respective academic year. To ensure the students’ attendance is proper the College and School require students to attend at least 75 percent of the total classes for each subject in each semester.
