The Tamralipto Government Medical College and Hospital is in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal and as such is a fairly new Medical College in the country. This is a public institution founded in 2022 with the purpose of educating students in the field of medicine moving fast up the rank to become one of the significant medical schools of the region. Located in a large 25 acre plot, the college provides medical education through various courses such as the MBBS and a large number of post graduate disciplines. It is a National Medical Commission (NMC) approved affiliated college and hence has maintained high educational standard of medical training. The pioneer course is the five and half year programme of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) which has an approved strength of one hundred students. It is the first six years’ programme in medical education offered at the institution. In addition to the undergraduate programme, the college also offers three postgraduate courses: It offers 5 main specialities: MD Obstetrics and Gynaecology with 4 seats, MD Paediatrics with 2 seats, and MD Ophthalmology with 2 seats. Each of these speciality programmes has a span of three years, and offers postgraduate training in these vital fields of health. This means that the various programmes available to students enable him or her to have a choice on the area of speciality within the medical profession. The admission process of Tamralipto Government Medical College and Hospital mainly focused on NEET which is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. A competency test typically, this examination plays a major role in the selection disparities of medical students throughout India. The admission for the MBBS is given to students who qualify NEET with percentage as per the Regulation of National Medical Commission for MBBS admission.
