Suran College of Nursing was set up in the year of 2008 and is located in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu. As one of the affiliated colleges for this programme, it is INC approved and is especially designed to offer exclusive nursing education to female students only. Located on land that occupies approximately eleven acres, the college provides the right environment for learning. When combined with its highly qualified faculty of 25 staff members, it provides for an outstanding student-to-teacher ratio of 184 to 1, an arrangement that lends students private one-on-one sessions in their quest of becoming qualified nurses. Suran College of Nursing facilities include modern technological facilities intended to complement the learning process in the college. Accompanying these amenities is a modern outfitted library holding impressive medical & paramedical titles, newsletters, and magazines. The computer laboratory complete with an internet connection and an air conditioner has been procured to allow the students to realise the stress of the new world in nursing. The college boasts of having well equipped fundamental nursing lab, and medical/surgical skills lab, community health nursing lab, anatomy and physiology lab nutrition lab and microbiology lab. The college is particular with the kind of atmosphere that is provided to a student, and being a college of nursing, Suran College of Nursing is keen on making sure that the environment within which the students find themselves is one that is comfortable and secure and one that will facilitate learning. The college also has a separate hostel especially for female students that has four floors and is adequately furnished. Rooms in the hostel are larger, lit adequately with windows and powerful ventilation systems to provide proper furnishings and other necessities to the tenants. All students of nursing are compelled to live in the hostel, where they are supervised by a warden with full responsibility for the hostel. The hostel also has a dining hall that provides healthy and clean food for consumption by the students to meet all their nutritional requirements. At present, the Suran College of Nursing has only one programme on offer, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing). This full-time programme is offered over four years, including the pre-university year, and has an approved capacity of 50 students per year of admission. The programme of study of the B.Sc Nursing entails coverage of theoretical concepts and skills to enable the students to practice as professional nurses in the health sector.
