St. Mary’s College of Education is an affiliated college in Tamil Nadu, India accredited in the year 2008 and lies in Vellore. This is being procedural because the institution is particularly a teacher training institution that is accredited by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Located between two and three acres of land, the college is compact, thus providing a suitable environment for education in teaching. With 135 students as members of learning community and 7 strong educators in faculty staff, St. Mary’s offers focused and effective education. The college presently has one programme, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in its present form because it is a specialised institution in teacher education. St. Mary’s College of Education has several amenities that aim at improving the learning environment of the student. The library central function is to disseminate, store and channel knowledge resources that are relevant in academic processes. Most departments comprise laboratories that provide a practical touch that is essential when training teachers. St. Mary’s College of Education has a full time B.Ed programme and the permitted strength is 100 students. This two-year course aims at producing professional competent teachers capable of teaching in schools. The programme interweaves course work with practical experience to ensure students are ready to meet the demand of present day classrooms. Even though the college offers only this one degree programme , the college affirms the policy of delivering quality teacher education.
