Sree Balaji College of Nursing Chennai, directly coming under professional studies, was inaugurated in the year 1992. This constituent college is situated in Chromepet, Chennai, and has been training generations of healthcare professionals for the last more than three decades. The college is duly accredited by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), to show that the college as well as its programmes are recognised by the Indian Nursing Council. Sree Balaji College of Nursing conducts various programmes in nursing at the B.Sc., M.Sc., P.B.B.Sc., and M.P.B.B.S. levels for those who wish to become nurses and those wishing to build up a progressive career in the specialities of nursing. Sree Balaji College of Nursing has installed numerous school facilities meant to complement the learning process of the students. Several highly equipped laboratories assist in the development of specific nursing skills, as knowledge gained from class work cannot be overemphasised as a key aspect of nursing practice. The library resource centre of CHRIST is fully equipped with books of different disciplines, national and international journals, computers, LCD projectors, etc. Health-wise, there are health facilities for students, with first aid being available from the centre. The college also appreciates the need of fully developed student social life, hence having developed sporting facilities such as the tennis court, volleyball court and basketball court; the Auditorium for event and seminar purposes. Among the special facilities that are provided are the hostel facilities for both boys and girls that are well furnished rooms, as well as mess facilities to enhance comfort of students who are forced to live away from home. Sree Balaji College of Nursing has the following approved seven full-time courses recognised at two degree levels. The undergraduate programs the college offers are four years of B.Sc. Nursing with one hundred total seats and two years of Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing with a total of fifteen total seats. Although at the postgraduate level, the college offers five specialised M.Sc. Nursing programmes for 5 students per specialisation, and each programme takes two years to complete. Some of these specialisations are medical-surgical nursing, paediatric nursing, obstetrics and gynaecological nursing, community health nursing, and psychiatric nursing. These diverse programmes enable the students to catch their interests in the various nursing fields to enable them to fill the different posts in the health care sector.
