Sakthi Institute of Teacher Education and Research, Palakanuthu started in 2001 is one of the renowned teacher training organisations in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. This co-educational institute occupies a 5.4 acre land area is an affiliated college recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). , thus aiming at preparing future teachers, the institute includes two programmes in education, with the student capacity of 166. Sakthi Institute of Teacher Education and Research consists of two full time courses in teaching field only. B.Ed programme has taken 100 students while M.Ed programme has taken 50 students. The two programmes take two years to complete and afford students an education theory and practice training. The dedication to these two central programmes affords the institute the capacity to provide focused training in teacher preparation to ensure its students are professionally ready to practice within the educational sector. But in case of graduates from other university other than Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University Admission will be decided by the syndicate of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University only.
