RVS College of Education was started during the academic year 2006 – 2007, and it is the one of the leading teacher training college situated at Dindigul, Tamilnadu. This affiliated college is approved by NCTE i.e. Nation Council for teacher education and is committed to fostering the future education. It is a self-financed Five and half acre campus private college for boys approved by NCTE and located in Jand Pradesh. The college takes in 153 students every academic year and has 11 faculty members, which then gives students ample individual attention and a proper education. RVS College of Education has plenty of amenities that can be considered as multimedia facilities for its academic programmes. The library plays an important role of an information centre where learner is exposed to a wide range of education materials. Supplementing the teaching-learning activities are some laboratory facilities like Psychology Laboratory, Bioscience Laboratory, Physical Science Laboratory Information and Computer Technology Laboratory, and Language Laboratory. These facilities are supported by a clean well-equipped Educational Technology center. The college has adequate amenities for use by sports enthusiasts so as to ensure that the colleges balances between sporting activities and class-work is achieved. There is also an ordinate for holding of events and seminars to enhance an active university life. RVS College of Education is mainly dedicated to the education of teachers by providing a course in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) . This is a two-year full course programme with an approved students’ capacity of one hundred students enrolment. This paper seeks to explore the need for the B.Ed programme to produce capable teachers, with adequate content knowledge and teaching competencies and the practical skills of how to apply such competencies in a classroom set up. Though the college already presents only one degree programme, its liberal curricula combined with the emphasis on practical training prepares graduates for combating educational demands in the contemporary world. The admission process at RVS College of Education is purely based on merit list which is followed as per the norms of state government, U.T. Administration, and the university to which affiliated. Students with intention for admission are assessed on the basis of their result in the qualifying examination and/or entrance test. The college may also apply other methods of selection as may be provided by the current admission policies.
