Royal College of Education for Women, Madurai was set up in 2007 and is a pioneer of academic standards in Tamil Nadu. This co educational institution is located in Thanichiyam, Vadipatti Taluk, Madurai and is established with the objective to produce future teacher. It falls under category of affiliated college, therefore, though is bound by the national policies in its operations, it has its own college personality. At the moment the college has 61 students in student population and fifteen in the faculty and this may be attributed to the small nature of the college in terms of the size of the classroom. Comfort is provided by the first aid facility and the gym, so that students would also be physically fit. The Royal College of Education’s core programme is a Bachelor of Education known as B.Ed. This is a two-year full time course whose main purpose is to produce competent and passionate educators. Though the approved intake is a 100 seats, the programme offers a good chance for prospective teachers to start their education journey. The B.Ed course dovetails as it combines theoretical training with practical experience to ensure that any graduate that joins the programme is well equipped to handle every aspect of the teaching profession.
