Kongunadu College of Education for Women, Salem, came into existence in the year 2007, and it one of the prestigious college in Tamil Nadu. It is a women-only institution located in centre of Salem and occupies as large area of 33.5 acres of land. Being an affiliated college, it has come up with lot of hard work for quality education for which it has been approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). This college continues to sustain a family like environment for seventy two students and is staffed by ten faculty members all of whom are committed to nurturing academic excellence in the area of education. One should acknowledge the college that is very providentially equipped with modern facilities that enhance learning experience. In the centre of the campus is a new library, which can be called the digitallibrary that opens until midnight for the students with thirst of knowledges. Kongunadu College of Education for Women also has multimedia classes with provisions of OHP, LCD and internet facilities to provide corporate look to the college and make the method of teachings more effective. Kongunadu College of Education for Women at present provides one course that is enough comprehensive and that is the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) . This course is a two-year full course with an approved capacity of 100 students for the college in order to uphold the quality courses offered for teachers while accommodating the large number of interested candidates. To this end, the B.Ed programme is structured to develop highly effective and motivated next generation teachers with sound theoretical understanding as well as mastery of different skills pertinent to teaching profession.
