The Institute of Education, Tiruchirappalli, also known as IET was started in the year 2006 offering educational training exclusively for the generation of budding educators. Located in Poothavar Village, Thogaimalai Main Road, opposite to National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB), it is affiliated college is situated in a 3 Acre campus. The institute recognized by National Council for Teacher Education(NCTE) provides curriculum mainly in the field of teacher education. Enrolment of students is currently at 246 while 13 faculty members serve in the Institute of Education and thus the institute offers a favorable environment for learning in education. On this basis the Institute of Education boasts that it provides a variety of additional services to complement your studies. This has a large playground for sports lovers and a good sized hall for any ceremony and other occasions. Beacons of learning are a library, department wise laboratories, and adequate information technology facilities for student operations at the university. The college is known to care about students and a health center offers first aid amenities for the students. The hostellers’ requirements, if any, are separately housed in hostel accommodations for boys and girls. There is also convenience in terms of a workable canteen for the institute and transport means for the students and staff. This college fosters participation in co curricular activities for the purposes of developmentalism. The centre piece of Birth Education programme is the core of the Institute of Education’s academic provisions. Mode of study This is a two-year full time course that was developed to equip the students with all they need to get a satisfying teaching vacancy. The most popular course of the institute is the B.Ed program which has an approved intake of one hundred seats.
