Government Polytechnic, Kandhamal, came into existence in 2013 and is approved by AICTE, New Delhi, compounded in Phulbani, Odisha. This affiliated college which is approved by AICT Equal College All India Council for Technical Education provides quality education in different engineering disciplines. Located in a spacious and landscaped compound of 10 acres, the institute has the total student strength of 436 and the total faculty strength of 15. Currently, Government Polytechnic, Kandhamal offers four diploma courses to facilitate students to progress and develop themselves for successful carriers in the engineering and technical field. This institute has dedicated itself for effective learning environment that include all the modern amenities to facilitate students academic and other needs. Another facility on the campus is a library that has a good stock of book for students to enhance on their studies. Sophisticated laboratories for each department provide students more practical touch and feel experience. The college also has the best IT facilities permitting students to be in contact with the most recent advancement in the IT sector. In a bid to promoting an all round development of the students, the institute has facilities for sports and an auditorium for cultural activities and seminars. A canteen which provides food for students and Health and First Aid center for emergency also exist for the students’ convenience. Interestingly, just to cater for the student’s accommodation needs, the college has provided different hostels for both male and female student so that students from different regions of the country can easily find a place they can live comfortably. In total, Government Polytechnic, Kandhamal, an affiliated College of Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela , provide four full-time diploma courses out of which all have a period of three years. The institute has got an overall approved capacity of 240 students in all the programmes offered. Accomplishments include; Diploma in Civil Engineering , Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering . Such programs aim at helping students gain good knowledge in the subject areas of focus in addition to capacity to apply this knowledge practically.
