Government Polytechnic Channapatna is a co-educational institution established in the year 1958 to provide quality technical education. The present building was inaugurated by Sri Kamaraj, president of the Indian National Congress, and presided over by Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the Union Minister. Government Polytechnic Channapatna is affiliated with the Directorate of Technical Education Bangalore, and it is approved by AICTE. Government Polytechnic Channapatna offers Diploma-level courses in the field of Engineering and also offers lateral entry for the second year. The Diploma is offered in Computer Science and Engineering , Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering , and other specialisations for a duration of 3 years. The courses are offered for candidates who have passed the SSLC or equivalent examination by securing 35% marks in aggregate.
