The Department of Media and Communication studies was established in 1990 as a constituent college at Savitribai Phule Pune University and is located in the city of Pune in Maharashtra. These comprise a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Media and Communication Studies , a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Media and Communication, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Media and Communication Studies, and a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Indian Film Studies. Though the M.Sc and M.Phil courses are full-time courses, the PGD in Indian Film Studies is online, that's going to help working professionals get through. The six-year Ph.D course is open for those wishing to pursue advanced research in the field. Interestingly, the intake capacity for PGD in Indian Film Studies is fixed at 25 students, showing that the department is successful in providing this niche area under specialised education.
