BIT Deoghar

The present constitution is BIT Deoghar, formerly known as Birla Institute of Technology Extension Centre, Deoghar, a prominent constituent college founded in 2007. This institute is located in Jasidih, Deoghar district of Jharkhand and has an area of 25 acres of land. BIT Deoghar is recognised by AICTE, New Delhi and here are undergraduate programmes offered by the college. The institute, especially the Hermann Gmeiner Institute of Teacher Education, B-One, provides a conducive environment for quality education with a total student enrolment of 475 and a faculty strength of 30. BIT Deoghar teaches 7 courses spread across the 3 degrees with diverse streams like engineering and management. Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Extension Centres are satellite campuses of BIT Mesra , Ranchi, established to extend the institute’s prestigious technical education to other regions. Notable extensions include centres at Deoghar (Jharkhand), Patna (Bihar), Noida (Uttar Pradesh), and Lalpur (Ranchi). It has many amenities within the institute that help its academic activities, and all these are found to be modern. The college library started in 2007 with a collection of books and other related materials in excess of 26,000 volumes, such as textbooks and reference resources. It presently has 37 current journal subscriptions and many e-journals, following the guidelines of AICTE. It is a computerised library using LIBSYS software for issuing and accessing book information and has an online public access catalogue and a bar code circulation system. Department-wise BIT Deoghar owns well-equipped practical learning facilities & laboratories. The campus has a canteen facility, a health centre where first aid is available, and a good Information Technology facility. The many facilities concerning gym and other sporting activities that the institute has include the fields for cricket and football, the basketball and badminton courts. In total, BIT Deoghar has 7 undergraduate courses of study in five B.Tech fields and two management streams. All programmes are full-time regular programmes. However, as the graduation details of the latest year are missing and hence, the institute has always been committed to providing quality education, and the graduates can face the challenges of the future. In the current consideration, admission policies at BIT Deoghar are aimed at admitting deserving students into the various programmes in the institution. For other courses like management courses, B BA, and BCA, the institute may certainly have its own selection criteria. BIT Deoghar has always been promoting the alumni network with various alumni activities, specific to different batches, and alumni reunion programmes. To ensure these interactions, the institute has developed an Alumni Relation Group (ARG) and a Students Alumni Relation Cell (SARC). These alumni meet are the forums where people can share information and experiences that help this institute on its path towards academic achievements.
