Assam Engineering Institute,Guwahati (AEI Guwahati) was established in 1948. It is one of the oldest technical institutes in the state of Assam. AEI Guwahati is approved by AICTE and is affiliated to State Council of Technical Education Assam. AEI Guwahati courses include diploma in engineering courses in 6 branches namely civil engineering , mechanical engineering , electrical engineering , electronics and telecommunication engineering , chemical engineering and computer engineering . AEI Guwahati admissions are done on the basis of the Assam Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) conducted by DTE Assam.
